Hat schonmal jemand versucht einen OMV Fileserver unter Proxmox mit VirtIO-fs aufzusetzen?
Die VirtIO-fs'e habe ich in OMV gemountet, aber einen SMB Share bekomme ich nicht ans laufen.

Ja, das läuft bei mir so. Da der virtiofs-Mount in der Regel im root-Dateisystem läuft, hast Du da das Plugin openmediavault-sharerootfs installiert? Damit hat dann die Einrichtung des SMB-Shares wie gewohnt funktioniert.

Hat auch wunderbar geklappt Der kleine alte NUC startet nun per Skript im Backup-Job per WOL wenn er gebraucht wird und fährt danach wieder runter. Sehr komfortabel.

Ich habe die Woche gerade von OMV mit Docker auf Proxmox mit verschiedenen LXCs/VMs umgestellt, nun würde ich mir gerne noch einen Backup Server hinstellen. Die empfohlenen Anforderungen sind allerdings nicht ohne. Hat hier jemand einen Backup Server auf einem alten SFF oder Micro-PC laufen? Ich hätte hier noch einen Terra PC mit i5-5250U & 8 GB Ram, daran könnte ich dann per USB3 eine HDD mit X TB anschließen.
Die VMs/LXCs sind alle nicht hochwichtig, wichtige VMs wie Home Assistant werden noch woanders gespeichert.

ich hab dafür ein mj11 genommen. vielleicht schon ziemlich drüber, aber ich hab's für unter 60 Euro bekommen inkl ram.
ne 10G karte rein und ein adapter. läuft. ebenso scheduled on/off

raidz2 nervt mich gerade wieder beim backup auf den pbs. das muss doch schneller gehen....

War ein Tipp von @Supaman . Ich denke du solltest (auch wenn du mehrere Server einträgst) trotzdem bei einem Anbieter bleiben.



EDIT:

Vielleicht lass ich das mit dem PBS-Backup und mache lieber ne einfache Maschine daneben, wo ich mit zfs send/receive ne art backup von snapshots anstelle. Hat das jemand so im Einsatz?

@Fischje ist dein raiz2 auf SSDs oder HDDs? PBS macht recht viele IOs weil kleine chunks erstelt werden. Das mögen HDDs nicht so besonders. Ein Tipp ist ist bei HDDs eine SDD/NVME als Metadatacache zu nutzen. https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/why-restore-is-so-slow-from-pbs-and-what-is-slow-fast.120112/
IO delay ist zwar "unschön" aber tut ja eigentlich nicht weh, die CPUs sitzen auch nur im Idle bzw. warten auf IO. Bei Bedarf können sie aber in der Regel andere Aufgaben machen.

Source ist bis auf eine VM/CT alles auf SSDs (auch raidz2). Der eine "große" Medien CT liegt auf einem raidz2 HDD.
Der PBS besteht aus Raid10 (ZFS), also stripped mirror. Habe ein ganz anderes Problem gerade gefunden für mich:

snapshot mode
This mode uses the snapshotting facilities of the underlying storage. First, the container will be suspended to ensure data consistency. A temporary snapshot of the container’s volumes will be made and the snapshot content will be archived in a tar file. Finally, the temporary snapshot is deleted again.

snapshot mode requires that all backed up volumes are on a storage that supports snapshots. Using the backup=no mount point option individual volumes can be excluded from the backup (and thus this requirement).

By default additional mount points besides the Root Disk mount point are not included in backups. For volume mount points you can set the Backup option to include the mount point in the backup. Device and bind mounts are never backed up as their content is managed outside the Proxmox VE storage library.

Natürlich hat der Medien CT 2 mount/points, die ich mit backupen wollte. Da will er dann aber im rpool was temporäres hinlegen, wofür der natürlich bei mir zu klein ist und das backup failed.

Deswegen die Frage nach dem zfs send/receive.
