I have one 1GB PC2-4200 hynix stick free (in Berlin).

They sell the same Uniwill notebooks as Nexoc, at least they used to. But they sell it more expensive. I have no experience of buying from them, so I don't know if their quality is better than Nexoc. However, I doubt that anything from Uniwill sold for Bulmann's price is worth the money...

Have you tried to run a memory test like memtest86+ to check your onboard RAM? Linux is also good idea to play with.

12" is absolutely no problem for me. I was also afraid in the beginning. Even 10.6" 1280 x 768 is fine if the quality of display is good. The only potential problem is the keys size of some models, not the fonts size on your display.
